Philosophy: Access to Meaningful Employment Inc. (AcME, Inc.) is a non-profit corporation providing vocational

services to people with disabilities who will benefit from long-term employment support. AcME, Inc.'s

goal is to achieve financial, social, and physical integration, and as high a degree of personal independence

as possible for its client's. Services provided by AcME, Inc. include individualized job development, on-

the-job training and maintenance, and on-going support of its workers in local business sites. AcME, Inc.

strives to locate employment for its consumers relevant to individual preference and need, and through

training interventions, to increase the skills and experiences which will enable a person with a disability

to have as similar a lifestyle and experiences as their non-disabled peers. In providing these services,

AcME, Inc. strives to maximize through work, and to increase individual independence as much as possible.

Supported Employment

As defined by P 506, the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1986 and 1992, Supported Employment is:

"competitive work in an integrated work setting for individuals with the most severe disabilities;
for whom competitive employment has not traditionally occurred;
or for whom competitive employment has been interrupted or intermittent as a result of a serve disability and
who, because of the nature and severity of their disability, need intensive support employment services or
extended services in order to perform such work"
